Secluded amongst the boulders, Mowani ‘s guest rooms are a testament to the surroundings, where a sense of elegance and earthiness prevails. Winner of an architectural eco-design award in Germany, the organic nature of the design is felt through the camp. Colours, textures and comforts envelope you, while the vaulted cathedral like thatched ceilings are Africa’s way of paying homage to nature.
Mowani offers 13 en-suite rooms with views across the valley or hill top vistas and 2 luxury suites, with open-air bathrooms, a spacious lounge and deck for enjoying meals in peaceful seclusion.
There are also 7 campsites with stunning views across the valley and private ablution facilities.
Adrift in my own universe, it was easy to forget that nestled between the ancient granite boulders and paths connecting it all together, were 12 thatch en-suite rooms... each accommodating a story of their own.
The private suite was my ultimate retreat. Uninterrupted views surrounded me whether relaxing in the folds of my bed, enjoying dinner on the private deck or throwing caution to the wind in the open-air bathroom! An additional indoor bathroom and luxuriously furbished African flavoured lounge, further complimented my accommodations - made for a king... in hiding!
